Eve's out of surgery

After a long surgery this afternoon, Eve is just leaving recovery and settling into her room--which is on Floor E3, Room 332B at Stanford Hospital.

During the course of the afternoon, the surgeons removed two tumors from Eve's abdomen. One was at the initial surgery site in her colon and had grown outside to her vagina. The other was on the outside of her colon near her where it connects to the small intestine.

She has been given an ostomy bag, which they anticipate being able to reverse in three months or so.

Eve is still pretty out of it at this point. I'm sure she'll appreciate your on-going thoughts and prayers--and comments here to cheer her up. I'll provide you with more information as it becomes available.

Thank you so much for the update, Stacia. What a blessing Eve has to count you among her closest friends and admirers. Please let Eve, Pat and the family know I've activated a diverse and fun prayer chain for her. I cannot begin to tell you the many, many people who have taken Eve's situation to heart and are sending positive thoughts and prayers for healing and a safe recovery. And I know there are many, many more who have been touched and are keeping the Grossman-Bukowski family close in their prayer and though. Wrapping Eve in light and comfort. And of course sending the same to all of her friends and family... Cindy

Thank you for the update. Happy to hear that Eve's surgery went well. Reading her blog is just amazing. I've only gotten to know Eve a little bit in the last couple of years thru our mutual airports, but she is such a solid person. Her courage throughout her ordeal is awe inspiring. She truly makes the world a better place. Greg Andrews
